This week we are having a Math Test on Wednesday. We are doing a review Monday and Tuesday, and a study page will come home Tuesday.
We continue to read and write about the Underground Railroad.
In Bible we are learning about the Tabernacle. The memory verse for the week is Hebrews 7:25.

The Best Week Ever !
This week we all got along [ most of the time] and had alot of of fun!
We didn't really do much but we had alot of fun playing soccer baseball in the gym. The best part was when Brian Cretney came to the library and gave us a presentation! He also taught us drawing cartoon tricks and first position 3 2 1 go; it's when you put your hand on your ear , smile, and put one finger on your mouth.
On friday in the morning we had centres where we did alot of things for the book Last In Line. After that we had a normal day and at the end of the day we are going to go to gym and have an amazing time.
We had a great time this week!

Our amazing week:)
In social studies we finished watching a king Tut movie. It was fantastic. What the movie was about was Carter was tyring to find king Tuts tomb. In the end Carter did find the tomb, but they did not open the tomb. If you want to watch the rest then go on YouTube and type in The Curse of King Tut.
Also in social studies the girls made wigs out of black paper and we had to curl them while the boys had the hardest job ever. They had to have a shirt with brown paper shaped in an oval.:)
Our class is learning how to pray better. We have this poster in our class that has one hand on it. The thumb says Praise God. The index finger says Confess Our Sins. The middle finger says Thank God. The ring finger says Pray For Others. The pinkie finger says Prayers For Yourself. The palm of your hand says Closing. The classes prayers are Kyle (Angela's cousin), Kyle( Mrs. Tersptra), Cheyenne's dad is in Calgary for a week. Spencer's dad's in Cuba for a week.
FRIDAY IS A VERY BIG DAY:) There are 10 kids going to Master Field Day! Make sure your kids have sun screen and a healthy lunch. Keep off the sugar until all our events are done. Mr.Bakker hopes us to have a wonderful day. Mr.Kingma, Mr.Lee,and Mrs.Bylsma are going with us.

This week's new stuff!
This week was very exciting. We had Field Day (it was very tiring). We had a winning team which was team #3, yellow they got gold, #10, brown got silver and the winner of the bronze medal was team # 1,white. We also had a math test on measurements and we hope you all did well. In math this week we're learning how to multiply bigger numbers. Next week Wednesday we are going to the ROM (Royal Ontario Museum) with grades 5/6 we're all excited : Please note that kids are allowed to take their cameras with them and need to pay $7.00 each. It's going to be a blast :). Also note that we are going to the ROM, not Rome. They are very different. Next week we'll be focusing on Egypt (the ancient part) and if you would like to tell us something that you know about it you are welcome to try.
Thank You!

Weekly Summary May 10-14
This week grade we learned the 10 Commandments. It's not like we didn't know them before but they are very, very important. We also finished unit 9 in math.
A lot of kids did high jump and got to about 85cm. We are very very close to getting 10 people in the class getting a first standard in the 800.
1 week from now (May 26) our class is going on a field trip to the ROM for a end year class trip. We will be focused on the Egypt exhibit.
As you all know track and field is coming up. Please train your kids on high jump, triple jump, 800m, standing long jump, running long jump, and ball throw.
In Social Studies we have gone to the Ontario Legislature with bills our groups came up with. It's quite fun.
We also did fun fractured fairy tales.
Well, there's a small summary by Michael and Shannon.

Coming This Week May 10-14
• This week we are starting an exciting project. We will be reading through the gospel of John. I sent home a letter that says what each student is responsible for.
• In Reading we are continuing with our dreams and wishes unit. I will read the life of Harriet Tubman to the students.
• In Math we are continuing with perimeter and area. In Bible we are continuing with the 10 Commandments, and in Social Studies we will learn how laws are made.
• Be sure to check out the blog to see last week's art!
• Physical Education Classes: We are now finished our high jumping in PE classes. Be prepared for sprints, distance running, ball throw, standing/running long jump and triple jump outside. Consider the cooler predicted weather this week as you pack your PE clothes.
• High Jump: Watch the schedule in the hall (outside the bathrooms on bulletin board) for your opportunities to get more jumping in at recesses (Mr. K.)

What We Did This Week
This week we started a new reading unit. We also learned how Toronto lives. We liked making Fairy-Tales into Fractured-Fairy-Tales. Surprisingly everyone can get 3rd standard(75cm) in high jump with Mr.Kingma. On Wednesday we had an oral French quiz and everyone did pretty well! We are learning how to use 1cm squared units in math. In the computer lab we each did at least a one page slide show on OPEN OFFICE. We had a lot of fun practicing Field day with our field day teams. We also started a system that if you tip on your chair you have to do 5 push ups.

What's Coming Up May 3 - 7
Happy May!
This week we will be starting a Fractured Fairy Tale project. The students will write and edit their own mixed up story. It should be fun.
We are beginning a new unit in Literature. This unit is about our hopes, wishes and prayers. Many of the stories will deal with the Underground Railroad. In Bible class we are going to learn about the 10 Commandments. Thatʼs the memory work for the week too.
In Math we will be focusing on perimeter.
We will have a French quiz on Wednesday. It is an oral quiz. The students will have to say sentences with the correct pronouns with the right verbs. I am sending home a study sheet as well as posting the vocab on the blog.
Speaking of the blog, I will no longer be the only author! Last week Angela and Jordan wrote the Friday update. I will find two new students for this week.

WEEK OF APRIL 26-30
This week we had some awesome weather. We also finished our Literature Circles and are now working on the final project. In Gym we are starting high jump for Field Day 2010! Most of the classmates have finished their art project.
The month of April is coming to an end but lots of Birthdays are coming up!We are learning about different religions in social studies. To wrap things up we have a new box of encouraging letters. How it works is if someone says something nice to you put the name and what they said then put it in the box.
This was an awesome week!
