The Stolen Blessing
- Isaac was very old and couldn't see. He wanted to bless Esau
- Jacob tricked his father into blessing him. (Isaac blessed Jacob)
Jacob's Dream
- Esau wanted to kill Jacob.
- Isaac sent Jacob away to find a wife.
- Jacob dreamed about a) a stairway b) angels and c) the LORD
- God gave Jacob the same promises as Abraham and Isaac a)the land, b)many descendants, and c) a blessing
Jacob at the Well
- Jacob went to Haran to find a wife.
- He rolled the stone away and watered Rachel's flock to impress her.
- Jacob was interested in her looks and her wealth.
- Jacob went to her house to stay.
Jacob Marries
- Jacob worked for Laban for 7 years to marry Rachel.
- Laban tricked Jacob into marrying Leah.
- Jacob worked another 7 years for Leah/Rachel.
- Jacob married both Rachel and Leah.
Jacob Flees
- Jacob makes a deal with Laban to get the spotted animals born in Laban's flocks.
- Jacob's flocks increased greatly.
- Laban and his sons were furious.
- Jacob sees this and he is instructed by God to leave. Jacob and his family flee.
- Rachel stole the family idols/gods.
- Laban caught up to Jacob, but didn't find the idols.
- Jacob and Laban promised to stay away from each other.
God Wrestles with Jacob
- Jacob is headed home to Canaan.
- He sends messengers to find out about Esau. Esau was coming to meet Jacob with 400 men.
- When Jacob was alone, he wrestles with God.
- God changed his name to Israel. Israel means struggles with God.
- Esau greets Jacob with a hug and a kiss.
